NFL: New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks placed safety Rayshawn Jenkins on injured reserve Wednesday, meaning the starter at a safety spot will miss at least four games. Jenkins, who has played every defensive snap this season, appeared on the injury report last week with a hand issue but was able to play.

K’Von Wallace would seem to be the likely starter in place of Jenkins at Atlanta on Sunday. Safety Ty Okada joined the active roster after being signed from the practice squad. The Seahawks signed cornerback Eric Garror to take his place. Coby Bryant would also seem in line to play a larger role.

The NFL is a dangerous job, but playing right tackle for the Seattle Seahawks seems particularly treacherous. Already missing projected starting right tackle Abe Lucas (Physically Unable to Perform list) and backup George Fant (Injured Reserve), third-stringer Stone Forsythe did not participate in Wednesday’s padded practice.

Forsythe has started the previous five games. It seems likely he’d be good to play again this week, but 41-year-old Jason Peters may be an option to plug in if he can’t go.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said “it’s going to come down to the wire” about Riq Woolen returning from an ankle injury. The Seahawks are suddenly thin at corner with Tre Brown (ankle) unlikely to play and Artie Burns on IR.

This year’s first-round draft pick, Byron Murphy II, was a limited participant Wednesday, and it sounds like he may be a go against the Falcons.

As always, it’s never a certain thing until the inactives list comes out an hour before game time.
